After the amazing snow conditions of last week the sun and skiers enjoying it have left us with little powder to be had but lots of firm skiing on and off piste..or are there hidden gems out there? 20 min drive and a border later(think Italy) the skiing is still light and fluffy. But if you are heading out there be aware of the wind and the loading of slopes thats been taking place, its always a reality and a real danger.keep alert and rip it.
So its begun and with first early season snow fall(12th-14th Nov) coming thick and heavy the excitement is almost overwhelming.
So much so that Some of the Hat team members took a bit of a hike and where rewarded with surprisingly good snow(see our Chamonix gallery).Around 50 cm came over a few days but as soon as the clouds lifted the wind began, redepositing snow quickly. This is definitely something that should be kept in mind as I'm sure after the next snow fall a lot more of you will be heading out for some touring action. Remember--grip it and rip it--Safely.
Once the season starts, on these pages you will find snow reports, current conditions, an avalanche forecast translation, our photo albums and news about HAT events in Chamonix
Snow reported on 29th September, see photo album
