The conditions are changing here every day

Mountaingirl The conditions are changing here every day, especially right now due to strong and variable direction winds in the last couple weeks... that said, most of the slopes here that are still good have been protected from being scoured by the high-ish winds at altitude - and yesterday I skied a variant of the vallee blanche (taking skiers tight right of the gros rognon meeting up with the regular VB route) and it was powder to the knees the whole way down with most crevasses filled very well. The rest of the Vallee Blanche was in very good condition although the track below the bubble  which takes you to Montenvers train station still has quite a few rocks, and the path below that, taking you all the way down to Planards was in quite good condition. The arrete is not yet equipped at the Midi station on top, and yesterday the snow was quite loose and sloughing away quite a lot off the arrete when weighting certain sections, so take care and bring a rope and crampons of course. I also skied the petit envers on the Vallee Blanche the other day and it still needs more snow and there is a big section where you have to jump off an ice wall of about 10 feet into soft snow - but it is a bit scary - and due to the lack of solid ice in that area it would be difficult to set up an abseil so it might need more snow still or skiers who dont mind that sort of thing. The snow there was also wind affected a few days ago and was very crusty and difficult -but more snow has since fallen so it might have changed in the last day or so. I also skied in the col de St Berand (via the col des crochues) and the valley into le buet was quite good though it will be tracked out by now I think, though the snow quality was excellent. The rest of the valley leading up to the col  on the non-le buet side was very wind affected and quite scoured.
So the biggest issue here right now is wind but a warm wind is coming which will likely kill almost all the powder...
